what's needed to become a partner?
There are three main criteria that must be met by all Planet Safe Partners.
- energy footprint audits
You must complete an energy audit or, as it's known in the current jargon, a carbon footprint audit. - proof of best practice operations
You must have accreditation that demonstrates you are participating in best practice environmental management of your business. There are a variety of national and international accreditation schemes that endorse best practice in environmental sustainability. Because they all have outstanding attributes Planet Safe Partnership does not judge one as better than another as often they may be particularly relevant to an industry sector or business type.
Some of the programs that qualify under Planet Safe Partnership are listed on this site - programs not on the list can be submitted to the Planet Safe Partnership manager for assessment. - putting something back
No matter how much we try we will end up having some form of environmental impact. This can be compensated for by giving something back to the environment. To qualify for Planet Safe Partnership endorsement you will need to participate in some recognised environmental improvement project.
This could be through:
Your local Council.
Your local conservation group (e.g. CAFNEC/Landcare etc).
Any State or Australian Government endorsed program.
By offsetting carbon through an Australian Greenhouse Office endorsed program.
applications for endorsement can be made by sending the following information
- Cover letter on your company letterhead confirming application and membership of TTNQ
